A \u00a0member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, St Elizabeth’s is a member of the Heavenfield Partnership of Parishes and together we are dedicated to addressing the spiritual needs of both our own parishioners and the wider community.<\/p>

Under the spiritual leadership of Fr. Emmanuel Kabinga CP, our Rector, and with the devoted support of Fr Godfried Matumaini CP and Rev. David Collins, our Deacon, we offer a range of liturgies, ministries and programs designed to empower every individual in our parish. From vibrant liturgical celebrations and faith formation classes for all ages to pastoral care initiatives, we are committed to making a meaningful difference.<\/p>

Nestled within the tranquil grounds of the Minsteracres Passionist Retreat Centre, the Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary stands as a beacon of faith and heritage. This beautiful place of worship was completed in 1854 and is a masterpiece of Gothic Revival architecture, designed by Joseph Hansom. Renowned for its emphasis on craftsmanship and artistry, the architectural style perfectly encapsulates the dignity and grace of our church.<\/p>

Within its walls, the tabernacle houses the Blessed Sacrament, creating a focal point for reflection and prayer. The serene setting and the church\u2019s architectural beauty contribute to a profound sense of peace and the palpable presence of God’s love. The Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ ( The Passionists ), founded in 1720 by St. Paul of the Cross, established its presence at Minsteracres in 1949 with the purchase of the House initially intended as a House of Formation. Since 1967, the site has transformed itself into the Minsteracres Passionist Retreat Centre. This serene location continues to be enriched by a resident community of Passionists who provide spiritual guidance and retreat opportunities for both groups and individuals.<\/p>\n

Fr. Emmanuel and Fr Godfried are among the many dedicated Passionist priests who have served our parish since its establishment here.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Monastery of Our Lady of Holy Hope is situated within the Minsteracres, grounds home to a group of contemplative Passionist nuns who dedicate their lives to prayer and devotion to the Passion of Christ<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
